The Thursday Series: Francesca Burattelli

How do emotions shape the way we experience a place? And can music map the landscapes they leave behind?

In this edition of Torsdagsrækken, composer and vocalist Francesca Burattelli introduces her work with emo-geography: the ways we orient ourselves in places and landscapes through feeling. Through music and singing, she asks how a composer might trace her own movements across an emotional landscape shaped by centuries of expression, breath and transmission. Which traces do we follow, and which do we avoid?

Francesca Burattelli (b. 1988 in Piombino, Italy) lives and works in Copenhagen. She studied Audio-Visual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2011–2015) and began developing her musical practice after returning to Denmark. Since 2017, she has been an active and distinctive voice on the Copenhagen experimental music scene, known for integrating strong performative and visual elements into her work.
