The Thursday Series: Francesca Burattelli

How can music be a mapping of affective landscapes? and how do I as a composer trace my own movements within this geography? Do I follow or dodge the leftovers from centuries of emotional emission, exhalation and transmission? 

In this edition of Torsdagsrækken, composer and vocalist Francesca Burattelli introduces her work with emo-geography: Emo-geography deals with how we orientate in, and relate to certain places and landscapes, based on our emotions. I use this idea in relation to music, especially singing. 

BIO
Francesca Burattelli (b. 1988 in Piombino, Italy) lives and works in Copenhagen. She studied Audio-Visual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2011–2015) and began developing her musical practice after returning to Denmark. Since 2017, she has been an active and distinctive voice on the Copenhagen experimental music scene, known for integrating strong performative and visual elements into her work.
