Sounding Numbers, an artistic research project on data sonification
Satellites, telescopes, and sensors measuring heat, temperature, or gasses like CO2, which is released when we cut a tree, for it to be captured mostly by our oceans, eventually raising sea levels. Our world is being measured, number after number, showing a world that is no longer the one we remembered.
I feel these numbers as acts of intense beauty, and I listen to them with my heart and mind, in silence, in loudness, in soundings, in numbers. What do they say? How do they sound?
The music that I composed for this concert, is inspired on sounds from these numbers, a voiceless story about deforestation and ocean contamination, unfolding one of the darkest beauties of our perception.
Me as an artist
I seek for the limit of knowledge and beyond using sound as a tool to communicate through emotions. My language has always been full of complexities, but I strive for accessibility. I found my craftsmanship through research, so I immersed myself into many studies to materialize my desire for action. On this path, I released +21 records, I founded and directed an organization to develop creative arts in Argentina, and I craft synergies between science and music, aiming for empowerment and emotional dissemination (Miguel Angel Crozzoli).
