Afgang 2023: Halym Kim

Halym Kim is a drummer and composer based in Copenhagen. In his own music he is researching for new possibilities to transfer elements from the traditional Korean music into the contemporary experimental music. He is an active musican in the Copenhagen music scene and performs also as a traditional Korean musician.

In this concert I am going to present the results of my artistic practice which reflects on gravity and breathing and uses it as an extension of my musical tools for improvisation. My music that is in the context of experimental and improvised music translates the characteristics of gravity and breathing into a musical language and shows what kind of tension and release they can cause in music. This concept aims for the awareness of the performer and I am going to execute this project in a solo drum setting.
