Afgang 2026: Ugne Makselyte

Bona Sforza is an electroacoustic alter ego project by Lithuanian electronic music composer Ugnė Makselytė, built around experimental EDM songs balancing eclectic novelty and nostalgia.

Inspired by dark wave, rave, post-punk, Eastern European folk, and early electronic music, the project combines analog synthesis, processed voice, and acoustic instruments. Structured electronic compositions create space for acoustic improvisation, allowing unstable and spontaneous textures to emerge within repetitive, dance-oriented forms.

The project centers around the character of an “imposter queen” — someone moving between elegance and vulgarity, sophistication and rawness, authenticity and performativity. Through distorted vocals, immersive textures, and rhythmic repetition, the music approaches nostalgia as something tactile, imperfect, and slightly decayed.

In this concert, saxophonist Iwo Tylman and fiddler Thomas Kitching — coming from contrasting sonic worlds — bring their individual improvisational voices into the project’s theatrical and fragile universe. Visual artist Simonas Briedis accompanies the performance with iconic visual landscapes shaped by fake-analog glitch aesthetics.
