Afgang 2026: Simon Hiemstra

Better Life is a metal project by Simon Hiemstra. Driven by darkness and chaos, the main purpose of Better Life is to keep an open approach to the potential ways of making metal. Better Life is using metal to create a room for expressing anger, hopelessness, and frustration toward all the chaos, war, climate catastrophes, and capitalistic ambitions in the world.

The music is made from recordings of duo-improvisations that have been cut up and reshaped to make strange beats, samples, or chord structures. The result is songs that are either extremely energetic, fast, and chaotic or slow, patient, and unsettling.
