Zagre aka. Oskar Bertelsen invites you into a multisensory experience. Through an
integral & ritualistic approach to music, dance and art, Zagre opens a space where the
impossible can happen.

Antecedent reflections

For me music is something which happens between us. It is a way of relating to each other.
In this light, the history of music can be seen as a series of answers to the question: How can
we coexist? For this performance, I have gathered some of the best artists I know, given them
some simple instructions and asked people to come and listen.

Music is my time machine. I want to use music to stretch three moments over 20 minutes –
extended durations allows the listener space to engage and to listen autonomously. My
music is an invitation for the listener to engage on their own premises; to wander, to attend
and to forget time.

Music is my space machine. I want to create a space, to draw a circle and allow for
something which is set apart from our everyday life. As the mask reveals a truth about the
one behind it, this ceremony which transforms a space reveals the place we live in.

Music extends bodies. I want to use music to soften the barrier between our bodies and the
world around us: Dancing bodies, sounding bodies & listening bodies. In joy & melencolia,
in movement and stillness, as we listen & change shape.
