Afgang 2025: Viktoria Søndergaard

So far, I have only been a bandleader in instrumental projects, which I like a lot, but the last year I have felt a strong need for integrating words in my work. For me, one of the most beautiful things in art is, that we have the opportunity to say something about something. SO, this is an attempt to incorporate text in my (until now) textless universe.

I also want to break free from the traditional jazz jam culture with exclusive, solo instrumental, showoff energy as the center piece. For me it creates an environment where it’s difficult to create collective musical statements with the music as a whole in the center. I see music as a collective responsibility, the individual solo is not the center, and does not overshadow, but contributes to the overall expression. 

This concert is about our collective expression and responsibility.
