New opportunities at RMC for upcoming talents
Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) in Copenhagen is an internationally recognised laboratory for new music with an innovative and open approach to music education. The conservatory attracts and develops creative talents who have shaped the Danish music scene for many years – and it is resonating abroad, where RMC's methods have attracted considerable attention in leading media outlets such as The Guardian and Pitchfork.
RMC is now reforming its bachelor programmes. To build on and focus its efforts. To create even stronger environments at the conservatory. And to provide new opportunities for more of the ambitious talent profiles in the growth layer of music.
The reform introduces two new performance programmes: one for instrumentalists and vocalists, and one for songwriters who write and perform their own songs. The new programmes replace the previous bachelor programme of Music Performance.
At the same time, RMC is also continuing and further developing its bachelor programmes in Composition, Music Production and Music Management.
The changes optimise the balance between individual immersion and joint courses. Even though the programmes are becoming more specialised, community and collaboration remain core values. At RMC, many different artistic expressions and ways of working with music come together, opening up new perspectives, reflection and dialogue. From day one, students enter a living laboratory where ideas and working methods are shared, challenged and developed across the conservatory's programmes.
With the reform, RMC is also strengthening its efforts to educate the performers, songwriters, composers, producers, music teachers and managers of the future for a working life in an industry that is constantly changing. It is not just about standing on stage, but also about finding – or inventing – new paths, opportunities and projects that give music greater space and more value for society.
The focus on well-being, good cooperation and healthy working environments is brought to the forefront as a fundamental part of the programmes at RMC. Creating strong communities and taking care of oneself and each other has become just as important for a long and sustainable career in music as developing one's professional potential.
The new study programmes is in effect for future students on RMC's bachelor's programmes from the 2026/27 academic year. Applications are now open and will close on 1 December 2025 at 12 noon.
