Student environment
RMC’s students spend a lot of time at the Conservatory, which can be accessed with a security card at any time of day, seven days a week. With access to office facilities, recording and rehearsal facilities, a canteen and kitchenette, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in their studies and interact with others across the boundaries of RMC’s study programmes. The students’ party committee organises regular Thursday bars, parties and concerts, and the students regularly curate or perform at concerts at selected music venues in Copenhagen.
Facilities
Since 1996, RMC has been based in the Holmen district of Copenhagen, in a building originally erected in 1884 by a coppersmith. With unique practice and teaching rooms, a lounge and canteen, plus recording studios and concert halls, the building provides the ideal setting for an educational institution. Instrument loans
RMC can lend a variety of instruments, other gear and audio-visual equipment to students. The equipment is only lent for use at the Conservatory.
Events at RMC
Through the academic year RMC presents a wide-range selection of different event formats such as artist talks, masterclasses, music industry seminars, panels and listening sessions. The objective is to provide a variety of inspiring meetings that reflects the artistic, academic and aesthetic broadness of RMC’s education programmes.
Holmen
RMC is located in the beautiful and historic setting of Holmen, which previously housed the Danish naval fleet and is therefore full of old military buildings. Today, the area forms a kind of campus for a number of artistic educational institutions under the Danish Ministry of Culture; in addition to RMC, Holmen is also home to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools for Architecture, Design and Conservation, the Danish National School of Performing Arts and the National Film School of Denmark. Holmen thus comprises a dynamic educational hub, where creativity and innovation are central, and where there are many opportunities to draw inspiration from and cooperate with other students.
Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a vibrant city packed with cultural attractions. For the student, there are plenty of opportunities to soak up inspiration at the city's many music venues, ranging from small underground scenes and larger venues such as Vega to the country's biggest and finest concert halls like the Royal Theatre, the Concert Hall and the Opera House. Copenhagen also boasts a wealth of museums, galleries, theatres, cinemas and festivals of all kinds. In the festival season, which roughly runs from April to October, there are opportunities almost every week to go out and immerse yourself in music, food, films, photo exhibitions and so on.
