Supplementary admission to the Master's programme Music Education

Apply by 12 May for one of the available study places in RMC’s Master’s programme in music education.

Do you want to immerse yourself in music pedagogy and develop as a teacher, facilitator, and communicator in music? Do you want to help create new directions for music education?

The Master’s programme in Music Education at Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) is a two-year graduate programme for you if you hold a Bachelor’s degree from a music conservatory or in musicology, or a Bachelor’s degree as a teacher or pedagogue with music as a main subject.

At Music Education, you become part of a vibrant and dynamic study environment that deeply engages with music pedagogy and experiments with new formats and methods. Your fellow students are musicians and music educators with diverse backgrounds, united by a shared interest in developing ideas for future music educational practices.

Music education takes place in many different contexts, such as schools, music schools, kindergartens, nursing homes, youth clubs, conservatories, the healthcare sector, and as part of social work. The Master’s programme in Music Education equips you to develop your own pedagogical practice in relation to the contexts you find relevant. Whether you want to work with children in early childhood education, young people in vulnerable positions, folk high school pedagogy, or teaching electronic music, you will gain tools to take your practice to the next level.

The programme also gives you the opportunity to apply your music pedagogical skills in relation to broader social and societal issues, in collaboration with institutions in the healthcare sector, social services, and cultural life.

The application deadline for the supplementary admission to Music Education, with start of study in August 2026, is 12 May 2026 at 12:00 (noon):

Who is RMC?

Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) is an educational institution under the Danish Ministry of Culture and works on a non-commercial basis. RMC was founded in 1986 as the first music academy in Europe to specialize in contemporary rhythmic music.

RMC offers the highest education in contemporary rhythmic music - a multifaceted concept that embraces widely diverse genres such as rock, pop, jazz, urban, metal and electronic music.

Contemporary rhythmic music is a creative and performative art form which in a continuous dialogue with the contemporary world is deeply rooted in academic, professional and cultural traditions.
