Graduates of the Master’s programme in Music Education find employment as teachers in music schools, and in the preparatory class for conservatories (MGK), evening classes, folk high schools, continuation schools, etc. Some graduates work as freelance consultants in management training, teambuilding, etc., or set up their own private companies providing, for example, learning games, educational materials, training courses, etc.
Bruno Tagliasacchi, graduated in 2017
What’s your job now?
I teach drums at a municipal music school for kids in Copenhagen and work as a drummer with four jazz bands in town.
Why did you decide to study Music Education?
I felt I was missing a proper orientation towards my pedagogical goals. I had already been teaching some years in my hometown on Sardinia and I wanted to get insights into the pedagogy of teaching music and in my case drums, rhythmic possibilities and silence. I threw the cards on the table and RMC`s teachers provided me with the best tools to achieve my ambitions, yet broadening my view and expectations.
What were your most important discoveries?
The confidence to dare and believe in my beliefs and theories. Throughout my Master’s studies, my capabilities grew in vocally finding the right problem formulation, argumentation and resolution with audiences of different sizes, ages and skills. What I definitely take into my knowledge-luggage from this education is also a strengthening of my planning skills and my entrepreneurial mindset.
How do you see the future for music teachers?
Music needs to be spread, both artistically and pedagogically. As long as we reach a large audience, showing our knowledge worldwide, we are accomplishing our own mission, whether we are in Denmark, Italy or Congo. The future of music and music community is in our hands as teachers and musicians. That is why we should join forces to make this universal language intelligible for every human being. There is lot of hope for the future generations, as long we are committed with pure and genuine intention and love for what we do, every single day.
