Vocal Teacher Terminology Research Study
By Anders Ørsager
A key project on the pathway towards a universal vocal teaching language.
Every singing teacher has his or her own terms and forms of expression. This can be restrictive for pupils, who may receive instruction from several different teachers during their training. It can also be restrictive towards the exchange of knowledge and experience about the teaching of singing. This project, with the help of a major international study, will examine the trends in vocal teaching terminology and the possibilities of developing a common terminology.
The project will be carried out in cooperation with Bebiane Bøje (Royal Academy of Music), Cathrine Sadolin and Henrik Kjelin (Complete Vocal Institute), Julian McGlashan (Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham) and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Queen's Medical Centre Campus, Nottingham.
The project is partly funded by the Ministry of Culture through a special grant for joint research projects between the music academies.
