This report unfolds the artistic research performed by drummer and ass. professor Jonas Johansen leading to the release of the CD 'Divisions' (RMC 006 Cali 129). The artistic research has lasted for more than six years from the first conceptual idea to the publication of this report.

The aim of the project has been studying advanced rhythmical structures within the modern jazz idiom and transferring those investigations into a series of compositions to be recorded. The report reveals Johansen's artistic vision and the connected intrumental challenges during the longitudinal collaboration with Irish Bass player Ronan Guilfoyle and Danish saxophone player Lars Møller.
