This episode of RMC Podcast is a recording of an online lecture with Impostor Syndrome expert dr. Valerie Young, presented by RMC on 5 May 2020.

Impostor Syndrome has been a known phenomenon in psychology since the 1970s. Millions of people around the world secretly worry they’re not as smart or capable or talented as others “think” they are.

Impostor Syndrome is known among artists and musicians who work in a field of public criticism and subjective standards. It can affect the artistic processes and how one faces the public. There are various forms of Impostor behavior, some artists procrastinate, others become perfectionist and overwork.

Dr. Valerie Young is an internationally known expert author of the award-winning book 'The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Impostor Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It'. She earned her doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts where she was also the founding coordinator of the Social Justice Education program, a forerunner to present-day diversity and inclusion training.

In this podcast dr. Young shares insights and tools on how to normalize, understand and overcome impostor feelings.
